I just recently setup some Verizon FIOS for the purpose of serving my own website. This is how I did it with a dynamic IP address from Verzion FIOS. Not sure if there are already some walk-through’s out there but here is mine.
- Sign-up for free DNS service with No-IP.com and create a hostname… ilertech.no-ip.org for example.
- Next sign into your domain manager and change the NS settings to point to the newly created hostname you made from No-IP. You might leave the ‘@’ setting alone.
- Log into your Verizon router click “Advanced” -> “Personal Domain Name (Dynamic DNS) -> “New Dynamic DNS Entry”, then click the enable check box and add your hostname info and select No-IP as your provider along with username and password of course.
- Create a DMZ to your web server “Firewall Settings” -> “DMZ Host”
* You can alternatively set NAT rules to forward port 80 and 443 to your web server but this did not work for me at the time of writing this.
* This will work with other routers that have a dynamic DNS feature.
